A Faith Filled Birthday

     
Today is the birthday of a woman who is very special to me.  Without her, my life would not be what it is today.  She is the mother of my husband, the grandmother of my children, and my mother-in-law.

 

On the day that my husband and I were married, she promised to treat me like her own daughter.  She has kept that promise.  She is more than a mother-in-law to me.  I am proud to call her one of my closest friends.

She is the best grandma to my children.  You will frequently find her on the floor playing with them and singing with them.  I wish she lived closer.  I aspire to be like her and to raise boys like she raised.

Happy Birthday Faith Furtick.  Thanks for making my dreams come true.

The father of my babies

 
I know Father's day has come and gone but I wanted to give one last tribute to the father of my babies.  When I married him there were many things I didn't know about him.  One was what an amazing father he would turn out to be.  He truly loves his children and selflessly puts them first.  He is an amazing partner to have.  I love you Steven Furtick.  Thanks for being such an amazing dad.

Abbey works the camera

Several months ago, at my baby shower, I received this precious little pink hat from Cheyenne along with a note saying that she would love to take Abbey's pictures once she was born. Cheyenne's husband, Geoff, is on staff at Elevation doing motion graphics.  They also have a photography business here in Charlotte.  I was honored to have her take Abbey's first pictures.

Big Brothers

There are a few phrases that have been added to my repertoire that I seem to say 100 times a day now that Abbey Faith is here...

    Shhh...
    Go wash your hands, with soap
    Please get out of her face
    Don't touch the swing
    She doesn't need to be checked on

They are both constantly checking to see if her eyes are open.  But they mean well.  I am trying establish some general guidelines for living life with a newborn baby rather than constantly fussing at them.  We are working on it.

Abbey's hospital hat

I am super proud of myself for Abbey's hospital hat.  I made it.  I don't consider myself a super crafty person, but can be on a rare occasion.

I stumbled across the idea while surfing online one day.  They are called I'm not a boy hats.  I really wanted to get one for Abbey.  When I continued clicking found this tutorial on how to make your own and it seemed easy enough.

I found a hospital hat of Elijah's and one of Graham's in a tub of baby clothes and got to work.

The only thing I did differently than the tutorial is I cleaned it up a bit by creating hems on the hat and the bow with glue called liquid stitch (since I do not sew :)).  I made the hat in about 15 minutes and then bragged about myself shamelessly and showed it to all my friends.

She's finally here!  We are all doing great.  My labor and delivery went really well and I am recovering quickly.  She seems to be a pretty good baby, for which I am very grateful.  She eats like a champ and sleeps like one too.

Abbey weighed almost a pound more than Elijah (6lbs 2 oz) or Graham (6lbs 6oz), that was a huge surprise to me.

I am totally loving all the pink!
