My husband wrapped up our series, The Prodigy in Me, with another incredible message all about the paradox of the prodigy. He gave 4 paradoxical statements about being a prodigy in the body of Christ. The message was really powerful.
The point that spoke the most to me was "God will keep you in your sweet spot but He will not let you stay in your comfort zone." He went on to explain that our comfort zone is where we feel confident in our abilities. Our sweet spot is we are dependent on God to use us in the areas He has gifted us. And then beyond our sweet spot is the realm of false expectations, where we try to be someone we are not or someone others expect us to be.
The sweet spot is the place where I depend on God but I know I am acting within the gifts he has given me (1 Peter 4:11). I want to encourage you to think about what your sweet spot in Christ might be and do whatever it takes to get there.
You really should take the time this week to listen to the other 4 parts. You can listen in our archives or this week at The Elevation Experience.
Have a great Monday!
The series has touched me so dramatically. I have listened to all 4 parts multiple times this past few days via podcast.
I have to tell you, in part 2 when you spoke, there was one point that has really stuck with me. You were talking about your greatest weakness being turned into your greatest strength. You were talking about your boys and how the characteristics in them now can become frustrating but they are merely undeveloped strengths. My children have these same traits--argumentative, etc. but everytime they display these, since I heard this message, I hear your voice saying "they are just undeveloped strengths." It has really changed the way I react to my children and they way I correct them. I just wanted to say thank you, and if my kids could, I'm sure they would say thank you as well. ;)

This was such a great series! I stumbled across this video too -- it is about the GOSPEL, but it also talks about how we need to give back to the one that gave to us.

This was an amazing sermon. It spoke to me so much in the season that my life is in. I just changed volunteer roles to get outside of my comfort zone. I will be leading a middle school girls group, which is outside of my comfort zone.
So thankful for Pastor Steven, you and Elevation Church.
