Monday Morning Commentary
Yesterday we began our new series, God Is. This is the second year that we have participated in the One Prayer initiative. We are joining with churches all across the world in this series and it is exciting. My husband kicked it off with his message called, God is NOT...
The message was about the sin of anxiety based around the stories of Abram (Gen 15) and Hannah (1Sam 1:10-). The premise was that every dysfunction we have begins with a distortion about who God is. The main points were God is not incompetent, God has not forgotten and God is not indifferent.
My favorite line in the message was the key to contentment is accepting my except and when I don't cast my cares on the Lord, I infer that He doesn't care for me.
When it comes to anxiety and worry, I think often we do the wrong thing right off the bat. We go to our friends instead of God. Acting as if we believe that God is incompetent and cannot handle our problems. We get ourselves all worked up and then go to God as an afterthought.
The interesting thing about Hannah and Abram is they both got what they wanted. Only Hannah's journey was a lot easier (and shorter) because she went about her anxiety God's way. God is our heavenly Father who wants to bless us. He truly wants to give us the desires of our hearts. But we have to go about it His way and in His timing.
Today I am going to take some time to handle my worries God's way. You should try it too.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your cares on the Lord for he cares for you.
You can (and really should) listen to the message here later today.

Those kids, are CUTE.
i think Graham looks like his daddy, and Elijah looks like his mommy.
